that road

my MRI last week went well; that is to say, the administration of it went well - i do not have the results yet. tomorrow i will see my oncologist and he will let me know about the MRI. tomorrow i am also scheduled to do another dose of the dreaded chemo trifecta of avastin, irinotecan, and carboplatin.

while this is what is scheduled, i have been praying earnestly for a good result on the MRI and that it might prompt the doctor to give me a break from the chemo for a while.

you can continue to pray with me about this, and a few other things if you will... pray for a good result from this most recent MRI. pray for wisdom for the doctor to interpret the MRI. pray that i might have a break from the chemo if possible. pray for complete healing of my brain. pray for healing of my sinuses. pray for healing of my stomach. pray for healing of the sore in my hand (this one is new - what looks and feels like a blood clot on the back of my hand. i've already had one of these in my leg about a year ago and have been taking blood thinners ever since. if memory serves, this location was one of three attempts at hitting a vein for my IV two weeks ago, so who knows - may be something else entirely). also on the prayer front, and this one is important - please pray that i can accept what comes of the scan and the doctor's decision about further treatment. i made a commitment many months ago to accept the doctor as a vessel of God's will as far as medical treatment is concerned. i fear that if it is bad news and more intense treatment (or worse, good news and the same treatment) i may become bitter and resentful. so pray that God's will would be done, and that the doctor would be filled with wisdom, compassion, and sympathy for how hard the chemo is to take - and pray that i would have the strength to look down that road now matter what it is. also, please pray that i would be able to make all my obligations at work. the end of the fiscal year is upon us, so time is tight on the projects that i am working on. also, i need to renew my architectural registration by the end of the month, and there is some training associated with that which i needed to complete yesterday.

thank you for the prayers, emails, encouragement and grace that you've shown me these last 16 months. may God bless you for it.

  1. I am praying with you and for you. Waiting for results is a slow torture. I get that empty feeling in the bottom of my stomach. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. Remember you are not alone. Love, C
