yes, it's happened again; another two weeks has flown by. tomorrow morning i will go see my oncologist. we will no doubt discuss my meeting with my new neurologist.
we did in fact meet; but there is not much to say about it. he prescribed me a new anti-seizure mediccation (keppra XR), and increased the dosage to three times what i was taking before this whole mess started he also told me i could not trust the generic version of the medications i was taking. i will be seeing this doctor again in a week or so; and once a month from then on.
a week from tomorrow i will be getting an EEG test from this doctor to try and fine tune the culpret for my seizures and any long-term damage that may have resulted. i am praying there will be no evidence of long-term damage or problems.
i had some slight reservations with this installments title and the following visual references to Herb Brooks' famous workout of his team. my reservations are that they are not ominous predictions of my further chemo experiences. as you may remember from several entries ago, my oncologist was going to reevaluate our treatment strategy (read dosage) once 6 to 12 months of clear MRI's have been seen. the MRI i had in the hospital a couple weeks ago marked seven months of clear scans. i have not had the unpleasant discussion with the oncologist about this; but rather have been praying for the right words to give God the glory for what we see and what happens in the future. becasue i have the EEG coming up soon, the doctor may defer his decision on treatment until the results of that are in. we'll see tomorrow i suppose.
not being able to drive has indeed been a challenge. it has been humbling, it has been boring, it has been limiting; but thank the LORD, and thanks to my friends, family and church, i have been able to get everywhere i've needed so far.
please continue to pray with and for me. pray for healing on my brain, pray for no more seizures, prayer of thanks for no more seizures, prayer for meeting obligations at work an so on. prayer of blessing on those who have helped me with rides and food, etc. prayer for an end to cancer and chemotherapy in the near future. pray that if i get chemo tomorrow the nurses will be able to get the veins on the first try.
