new year

here we are in 2011. this time last year i would have never guessed what this new year's would have been like. all-in-all, the last one has been surprising but was a good year. i am hoping and praying 2011 will be an even better one.

tomorrow is my bi-weekly appointment with the oncologist. as you may remember, my latest MRI contained great news, but the doctor has chosen to continue with my same chemotherapy treatments none-the-less. i am praying tomorrow he will change his mind.

john 1:4-5
my chemo treatments have never been that bad by comparison to many other type of cancer treatments. however, they are no walk in the park, and they have some very serious potential side effects. i fear i may have another blood clot in my leg. my knee cap has been feeling a bit funny the last couple weeks. blood clots are one of the common side effects of avastin. ironically one of the other very common side effects is hemorrhaging. i have also had one or two knose bleeds in the last couple weeks. my last round of temodar (week of Christmas) was the roughest i've had since august.

ordinarily, i would say thank you Father for those unpleasantries; they are physical reminders that the medicine is doing its job. however, please join me in praying that God would give my doctor wisdom on what to do with my continuing treatments. i don't want to loose any legs, have intestinal perforations, or any other long term maladies. also, pray that i would continue to be contented with the doctor's decisions and trust that God is ultimately in control of them.

again, please don't forget to pray for me. the last battle was a great victory, but the war in not over yet. thank you all; and thank you Father for your love.

john
